‘Tis the week for our unscripted conversation & recommendations!
We have an unscripted convo (rather than writing) about once a month. During this convo, we ridicule each other while discussing books and other things we are currently loving. Why? Because we’ve never felt so alive.
🤓 Awkward? Yes.
😬 Cringy? Mmmhmm.
🤩 Fun? The most.
If you typically read—rather than listen to—our stuff, you can listen to our convo by pressing the “play” button near the top of the post.
Here are a few highlights and the promised links from this week’s convo:
1:21 — Life updates and stories (Kara takes issue with poutine; Bethany learns how to pronounce memoir)
3:35 — New Barbie Stanley tumblers are coming out! And check out these Amazon Stanley lid covers that purport to be spill free!
7:78 — Bethany recently devoured The Mango Tree by Annabelle Tometich
14:45 — “Sweaty Betty & Dare to Kare!” — we give updates on exercise challenges and wins
26:07 — Kara gives an update on her attempts to abstain from Starbucks (one of Kara’s 24 changes for 2024) and how much money she’s saved by not showing up (testing the guru theory that your daily latte can actually make a difference in your finances)
29:06 — Travis remains strong
31:40 — The “Pedigree of Paula” moment is given to someone who displays class and character in a way that reminds us of our mother. This week, it goes to our pal Jamie. She’s on TikTok as @wonder.full_words
36:02 —
from was our inspiration for this week’s “turn a phrase like Truman” — “Gave up the ghost”40:34 — “Ask Bethany!” — A segment that allows our Knockers to ask Bethany anything you want and receive an honest, unfiltered response! Have a submission? Leave it in the caaaaaaawments!
46:00 — “Taste of Kara”— continuing with our Gilded Age obsession and attempting to make it somehow relevant to everyday life, Kara presents three “High Society Selections” and “Peasant Pivot Options” for home decor items she’s currently into. So fun learning about origins of phrases and words! I have small children and sometimes I don't realize how weird some of our colloquialisms sound until they ask me to explain it and suddenly it's like, what does "giving up the ghost" even mean?! Thank you for the call out!
Interesting as usual ❤️👍
